(Material on main page talk page has no particular relationship to the main page, so I'm moving it here — Robin Patterson (Talk) 10:45, 16 July 2009 (UTC))
From time to time, some unregistered user, identified only by an IP address, makes a vandalistic or otherwise obviously useless edit in this Engineering Wikia. If a similar edit were made in Wikipedia (at least in the English one), it would obviously qualify for an immediate revert or speedy deletion if it was a completely new obviously worthless article. If such a user (making the worthless edit) is previously unknown to this Engineering Wikia, a bot automatically creates a Talk page for that user IP address welcoming them. To prevent the accumulation of useless pages, I will undertake the policy of deleting such Talk pages a few days after they are created in order to give the editor a chance to respond and justify their edit. This would be in addition to reverting the edits or deleting an obviously worthless page if one were created. H Padleckas 22:02, 18 June 2009 (UTC)
- Seems like a sensible idea. Give them seven days in case it's someone who works only in weekends. Caution - our standard of what is useless should be much more generous than Wikipedia's while we are struggling to get visitors and contributors. — Robin Patterson (Talk) 10:45, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
